Eye Care Specialists of Florida: Diagnostics

Here at the Eye Care Specialists of Florida in Kissimmee, we take great care to ensure the highest quality customer service and treatment for all of our patients. But before treatment begins, accurate and rigorous diagnostic procedures must be completed to ensure that each patient receives accurate and optimal treatment. As the region’s leading Ophthalmologist practice, our first job is diagnostics.

.

Diagnostics: The Key to Quality Eye Care

Any meaningful medical diagnosis can only be obtained through the findings of a physical examination of the patient and the affected area. Because our work is centered on the eye, it is critical that we use every tool at our disposal to deliver accurate and complete diagnostics, enabling the eye surgeon to perform the necessary procedure accurately and effectively.

We employ a host of diagnostic tools that make it possible for the Ophthalmologist to make an accurate appraisal of the condition in question. In the event that additional diagnostics are needed, our lead eye care doctor, Saira A. Choudhri can refer our patients to one of our many local partners.

These tools include, but are not limited to;

External Photography

External photography is used to document external changes in the outer structure of the eye. This is an early diagnostic modality.

Gonioscopy

This examination enables the Ophthalmologist to evaluate internal drainage of the eye or related structures.

OCT

The Cirrus HD OCT employed infrared light to render a detailed image of the eye after cataract surgery.

Orbscan Corneal Topography

The Orbscan measures the thickness and curvature of the cornea. It is non-invasive and delivered highly accurate information.

Specular Microscopy

This test measures the shape, size, and number of cells inside the surface of the cornea.

Retinal Photography

A specialized digital camera is used to create detailed images of the retina, blood vessels, and the optic nerve.

Visual Field Analysis

Using a visual field analyzer, the Ophthalmologist checks for early signs of glaucoma, tumors, and strokes.

OPD Scan III

The OPD scanner can identify irregularities in the cornea and the physiologic lens, enabling the Ophthalmologist to decide how best to treat a given condition.
