What’s the difference between a contact lens fitting and an eyeglass exam?

• Tear film evaluation – If your eyes produce tears, it will make wearing contact lenses more comfortable. Your eye specialist can find out how well your eyes make teardrops.
• Near and distant vision tests – Even if you had an eyeglass exam, you still need one for contact lenses. The contact lens tests measure your vision distance for your prescriptions as you can see directly on your face instead of 12 millimeters away as would be for glass prescription tests.

After the Contact Exam: Time to Choose Lenses
